#UIndyDivest is a campaign started by UIndy Students for Justice for Palestine in support of the global non-violent call for boycott, divestment and sanctions.
The following is adapted from “UIndy SJP Position Statement: A Case for Supporting the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions Movement”
“We are compelled to respond to the needs and demands of the Palestinian people. In recognition of our position as a solidarity organization, we look to Palestinian civil society to determine the course and direction of our work. (1) Therefore, we adopt the following demands from the 2005 BDS call as guidelines for our campaign:
- Ending Israel’s occupation and colonization of all Arab lands as established in 1967 and dismantling the Wall;
- Recognizing the fundamental rights of the Arab-Palestinian citizens of Israel to full equality; and
- Respecting, protecting and promoting the rights of Palestinian refugees to return to their homes and properties as stipulated in UN resolution 194.”
